A winter storm continues to affect areas of Montana today and will eventually affect
Colorado as well. A strong arctic cold front has moved into these areas and overrunning
moisture and precipitation from the Pacific Ocean has led to snow and blowing snow at
times in areas of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming, where some areas were expected to
receive upwards of 8-12 inches of snowfall. As that same storm system moves into
Colorado, there could be upwards of 4-8 inches of snowfall, with blowing snow.
With this winter storm event precipitation will continue to overrun an arctic cold front and create snow and blowing snow. If you live in these areas that I mention stay safe. This winter storm continues forMontana, but for Colorado this winter storm should begin this afternoon around 5 p.m. and last throughout the night into the morning hours. A Winter Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow has been issued for Montana and areas of Colorado. On the map below, courtesy of The National Weather Service, the large areas in pink represent winter storm warnings.
In winter storms always be safe and watch for winter weather hazards. Remember that a Winter Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow means that significant amounts of snow and blowing snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous or nearly impossible. Don’t travel unless you have to. I will continue to keep you updated on any winter storm or weather events that come here at The Weather Rampage Website.
